Big Words & a Bad Attitude

from Lament for a Stolen Car by Vivian the Band

/

about

loosely based on a second hand story about a road trip that should've gone worse, dealing with not getting better at anything because you don't want to work hard enough. there's a lot of folks riding the apathetic train of mediocrity into oblivion, try to not let it be you

lyrics

hanging in the front row, never had this kind of view
dreaming like a big shot, preaching to the center pews
hanging with all my friends, only got one good friend
almost did a good deed, better tell yr parents
dreaming of the front page, with a page four feature
dreaming of the field, sleeping in the bleachers
hanging in the back row, feeling like a reject
almost got a good grade, better tell yr parents

heading on a road trip, gonna see the desert
buddy's got peyote, gonna see how that works
found a car in vegas, we found one that was unlocked
left it where we found it, after a few trips around the block

standing here in this kind of dichotomy
like some wild dog wandering 'round the city
i'm elated to have you right next to me
don't remember the last time i was happy
i've been walking on these same tracks for years
holding houses together with cans of beer
getting older, trading laughs for tears
feeling lonely even when you're here

pulled over in palm springs, we were swervin' in the slow lane
been doing it for miles, (one of those) radars caught us by plane
let off with a warning, (the officer even) wished us a safe trip home
at least, that's what i heard. been passed out since san bernardino

standing here in this kind of dichotomy
like some wild dog wandering 'round the city
i'm elated to have you right next to me
don't remember the last time i was happy
i've been walking on these same tracks for years
holding houses together with cans of beer
getting older, trading laughs for tears
feeling lonely even when you're here

about

Vivian the Band Seattle, Washington

The aural equivalent of scraping the freezer burn off the top of a pint of ice cream you forgot about. But, like, it's your favorite flavor, so it still turns out pretty good. And when you finish it, you put on some slides, drive three blocks to a mini mart, and buy more. But then you feel bad you didn't walk, cuz it was only three blocks. You then pass out on the couch and all the ice cream melts ... more
